Created in August 2011, this significant mural commemorates the 40th anniversary of Canada's first major queer civil rights demonstration, the "We Demand" protest (1971). Located in the Ottawa 2SLGBTQ+ Village, the artwork depicts a young Charlie Hill reading the ten demands for equal rights. The mural is a collaboration between Ottawa native Dan Metcalfe (freelance designer/illustrator) and artist Rob Lariviere, better known as "FallDown," who brought his distinctive, popular style to this historically crucial commission. The piece remains an important visual marker for the community's ongoing fight for equality.
